"Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing."
The Known God
God is not far from any of us (Acts 17:28)When Paul is given the opportunity in Acts 17 to communicate who the unknown God is, he makes 5 points
A Creator God (V24)
He presents God as the author of everything ñ the world, people, life etc. If God is the creator of all things that must include sport and our ability to play it and enjoy. Joining Lord Kinnard (who played in 9 FA Cup Finals) in thanking God for football, may be the first prayer our friends can honestly offer.
A caring God (V25)
It is because he is a God of love who cares for us that he has given us so many good gifts, including sport.
A controlling God (V26)
In the midst of the ups and downs of life (and sport) it is important for our sports friends to grasp that God is in control.
A close God (V27)
Many people acknowledge the existence of an unknown God. We want them to meet the living God and have a relationship with him.
A compassionate God (v30)
His compassion for our sports friends makes him want them to turn to him and not miss out on all he has created for them.
