Psalm 107

Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story Psalm 107:2

This verse jumped off the page as I read Psalm 107 recently. Many of us feel that we are poor at sharing the gospel with friends. We are not theologically educated. We cannot deal with the difficult questions: why is there suffering in the world? Hasn’t science disproved God? and so on.

But we all have a story to tell. A story of how God has worked in our lives, opened doors, used us. What is more in the modern world (post-modern world if you prefer), people are interested in hearing stories.

My own story over the past six years has been amazing. From a situation where it seemed that my work in sports ministry was over, God has opened doors for me to minister at two Olympics, one Paralympics, one Commonwealth Games, three world championships, two European championships and a World Cup.

Two examples. In Beijing there were no accredited international chaplains. I got media accreditation at the 11th hour (actually 3 months after the closing date) and had easy access to Olympians. At the 2012 Olympics, I failed to get media accreditation but God had a better plan. I was appointed Olympic Attache to Togo, giving me total access to village and venues with unprecedented ministry opportunities.

What is your story? What has God done in your life and through you? Tell someone this week. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.
